Just wondering. Has anyone in here been successful having sobriety without a Sponsor??

  • I never had a sponsor but I have attended NA meeting. However I could never accept the saying, once an addict always an addict. I felt adopting that thinking was only a setup for failure. In
other words although you may be clean you're never truly an over comer because what I was hear was that staying clean was going to be a lifelong battle. With a sponsor I wouldn't hear anything much different. It wasn't until I came to Jesus that through his word I believed 2 Corinth. 5:17, Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creature, old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new. You know it's funny the writer would add the word BEHOLD to this particular scripture. In the beginning of making God my choice, at my worst I experienced a life changing power where almost twenty years later I still see my experience nothing short of a miracle. Behold or look and see what I can do.

Some people are able to maintain their sobriety without a sponsor and I happen to be one of them. However I can tell you that it is because of the strength of my personal faith in God and the understanding that as life continues to happen, not all times will be good times and I know that for me, there will never be a time when just one hit won't hurt me. Therefore even in bad times with my trust in God I will not use. On that note I can also not stress enough the importance of finding what works for you as you work on your personal relationship with God and allow your faith and confidence to grow. Don't give up your sponsor just because others may not have one. Keep your sponsor and reach out to them whenever you need to and also stop by here whenever you have something on your mind that you need to express. This site is just another outlet and asset for you to use as you continue to add time to your sobriety.
